My Love Story With Jesus

My Love Story With Jesus

Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do. It’s easy to get bogged down by the daily things. Or to get distracted by what is “needed”. I am sure you have been there too. I can tell you that I am not a missionary or teacher because I love grading papers, or even because I love the paperwork that comes with accreditation. If anything, these things are deterrents. But when I get to hear how God is working in my kids' lives, I know I am where I should be. These are excerpts from "My Love Story With Christ" that they wrote in class:

"And then, in the middle of that brokenness, something happened. The Lord showed up. I didn’t see Him with my eyes, but I felt Him in my heart so strongly that I couldn’t deny it. His presence surrounded me in the middle of my tears, and for the first time that day, I felt peace. It was as if God Himself was whispering, You are not alone. Everything is going to be okay. I still love you…Looking back, I can say that what felt like the darkest day of my life was actually the moment God revealed Himself to me most clearly. He turned my pain into an opportunity to show me His grace. And because of that, I will never be the same."

“But God never left me. Even when I was far from Him, He still had a plan. I believe He put people in my life to bring me back. One day I was invited to translate for some missionaries. They went to houses, prayed for people, preached, and served in church. On the last night, they had a big service. They sang, they prayed, and each one shared their testimony. That night, something happened to me. As I listened to their stories, I saw how real God was in their lives. I felt the Holy Spirit touching my heart. I started crying. I said to God, I want that. I want to walk with you. I want you to be with me in every step I take.”

"I have always studied in Christian schools since I was little. When I was 15 years old, I moved to Vida Abundante School, and that's when my relationship with God started to grow. I became curious about the things in the Bible. I started going to youth group with my friends every Friday, and that’s where I accepted God as my Holy Father. "

"The bullet had been fired into the air by someone outside, and by some unexplainable miracle, it changed course and did not strike me. To this day, we don’t know how it happened. All we know is that what could have been a tragedy became a miracle…. The miracle didn’t just enlarge my life it opened my eyes. After that day, I began to understand faith as something active, something that touched the smallest details of my life. I stopped seeing God as an abstract idea and began to see Him as a presence that could step into the most frightening, ordinary moments and turn them into signs of love. I started paying attention to the way my family prayed to the way people gathered to give thanks."

"After my problems, I decided to get closer to the church and attended a youth group at the Rio de Dios church for a long time. Little by little, I began to accept Jesus as my savior, and well, I feel that after getting closer to the church, my life had a very drastic change. The 61 Isaias ministry gave me the opportunity to be a translator for different groups of missionaries who come to Honduras to share the gospel. This help my spiritual life grow because when we are translating, we put much attention to what the missionaries talk about."
