Mathew 9:35-38 describes a time that Jesus was speaking to crowd and had compassion on them because they did not have anyone to lead them. He tells his disciples to “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” It is from this verse that the 9:38 prayer initiative was started. Many of you have joined us in this prayer initiative and prayers are being answered. God has brought workers from the US starting with Frank and Melyssa, 9 summer missionaries, 10 teachers and several hundred people on short-term mission trips. But God didn’t call just North Americans. He is rising up people here like Dr. Melissa. He is rising up pastors in many villages to shepherd their flocks like Nicolas, Juan, Mauricio, Trini and Manuel. He is also rising up teenagers to lead their country. Teenagers like Edith who will join our team in a couple weeks and the 10 translators that have ask to serve Him this summer. He is a mighty God who is sending out laborers into HIS harvest here in Honduras. For those of you who have not yet joined this initiative, set your alarms to 9:38 and pray daily for Shannon and I, Frank, Melyssa, Dr. Melissa, Edith, our translators, summer missionaries, summer mission teams, pastors, teachers and those who have not yet answered the call. Pray that pastors and leaders will rise up and lead this beautiful country to the feet of the God Almighty.
Normally we meet with our house church Cautulaca on Sunday mornings. I work with the kids and have Children Church while Shannon teaches the adults. The following are pictures of the kids that come on a regular basis although I have had up to 13 kids. Public school starts again on Monday so I think more kids will begin coming once they get back into a routine. Tyler especially loves going to church and getting to play with the kids. They are all very patient with my Spanish and are eager to learn.
This week instead of our regular service we had a meal and invited the neighborhood in order to get to know them. The following are pictures from Sunday. Most are of the kids- because the are cuter. I hope you enjoy.
I do want to introduce one person first though. Luis. We first got to know him through Maritza when they were dating and he spent a lot of time at our house. Even though she is no longer here, he still comes over once a week in addition to attending church on Sundays. He was raised Catholic but accepted Christ and was baptized about a year and half ago. His family does not approve of him going to a protestant house church but he has been faithful. Sunday he brought 5 nieces and nephews, his daughter and his mom! It was thrilling to see that God is using him and beginning the work in his family. Please continue to pray for Luis’s influence on his family- his parents and all 10 brothers and sisters!
