Hannah Williamson is joining our team!!!!

June 21, 2019 by Kristi Hopkins 3 Comments

My name is Hannah Williamson. I am from Fort Worth, Texas and I am currently finishing up my first year of teaching at Abundant Life Christian School in Honduras. Next year I am excited to join the 61Isaiah team as their Field Logistics Coordinator. I was first introduced to 61Isaiah after my junior year of college when I served as a summer missionary. Since then I’ve graduated college and served as an on campus missionary at Howard Payne University for a year until I moved to Honduras. Being a teacher has been challenging and growing in multiple ways and I’m thankful to have had this opportunity. Next year I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store as I begin full time ministry with 61Isaiah.

Welcome to the team, Spencer!

June 13, 2019 by Kristi Hopkins 1 Comment

Hello all, my name is Spencer Wolverton. I was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home. I accepted Christ at a young age because of love. My parents modeled Christ to me in the way that they loved me. John 13:35 says, “By this everyone will know that you are mine by how you love one another.” After accepting Christ, I became aware of two different types of love. One that is restrictive, dependent on accomplishments, and expectation. The other is vast, deep, and never ending. It is patient, kind, and does not envy. It does not boast, and it is not proud. It does not insist on its own way, nor is it irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). See what kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are (1 John 2:19). I wanted that kind of love, and so my mother sat me down and made sure that I understood the decision I was making. She told me that all had fallen short of the glory of God, and that God did not send His son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

Throughout the next several years of my life the Lord taught me many things and continuously guided my path by opening and shutting doors. Eventually the Lord lead me to Howard Payne University, where many other hard lessons were learned. It was at Howard Payne that I became aware of 61 Isaiah. Shannon approached me in October about working for the organization, but I shrugged the conversation away. I had already made up my mind on what my future would look like, and Honduras wasn’t it. However, God kept bringing up Honduras which led to many conversations with Him about obedience and having joy in my obedience. This next year I am looking forward to working for 61 Isaiah as the Communications, Promotion, and Marketing Director (CPM). My purpose will be to communicate what God is doing and invite others around the globe to participate in what the Lord is doing in and through the core values and strategy of 61 Isaiah Ministries. I ask that you would be praying for me as I follow God in obedience, that He would give me the words to communicate throughout this job. Pray that these words would be filled with love and not manipulation. For the love of Christ compels us, because we have concluded this; that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised (2 Corinthians 4:10).

Come Walk With US: A True Story

February 11, 2019 by Joshua Dykes Leave a Comment

It all started with an invitation. We invited one of my tenth-grade students, Rolando, to come to church with us one Sunday night at a church called Rio de Dios. After the service he asked when we would be back and said he wanted to go where we go. A short time later we returned to Rio de Dios and Rolando was there waiting for us. Since then, he has gone with us to some other church services and has decided he wants to know God more and share God with others. More recently, Rolando consistently attends Rio do Dios and helps us with the Church Identity study we are doing with them on Tuesday nights. The first night we started this study, we quickly realized a few of the people attending could not read. Rolando decided that he is going to make sure they learn how to read because he wants them to be able to read the Bible for themselves, so he goes to a man named Manuel’s house every weekend to help him learn and practice reading. This is a cool story about a teenager who is willing to be used by God, but wait, it gets even better! Now, Manuel is a guy that has been on our radar for a while. The last time we did baptisms with Rio de Dios Manuel was asking good questions and expressed interest in being a Christian. Rolando has invited other classmates to walk with him in helping teach Manuel how to read and they practice by reading the Bible together. Rolando’s willingness to go to Manuel’s house every weekend shows Manuel the importance of reading the Bible, but it also shows Manuel the Christ’s love expands outside the walls of the church. Not only is Manuel learning to read, he is asking more good questions. We have seen a significant change in Manuel, both in his demeanor and his reading ability. It is awesome how God collides stories like this if we are willing to be used by Him. Our motto “Come Walk With Us” is not just a catchy phrase we say here at 61 Isaiah, this is how we live. We walk with Rolando who walks with his friends who all walk with Manuel who walks with his girlfriend and two sons. It all starts with an invitation, then a challenge, and then God does amazing things when we submit to doing His work. So who is walking with you? Watch what happens when you and your church invite others to “Come Walk With Us”.

Rejoice in the Lord

July 27, 2018 by Kristi Hopkins 3 Comments

Sometimes being in the ministry can feel fruitless but this week was anything but. I watch yesterday as “my kids” stepped up to be the leaders that God has called them to be. There are very few words that describe this so I am posting these pictures with how God used them. Enjoy and rejoice with me!

This “little” kid, Wesley, I tutored in 2nd grade, today I watched him preach as amazing message. Check out his notes and see how his brain works but let me tell you that God has plans for him!!! #9:38
Edith and Emma learned to make jam today so they can teach one of the ladies here. Not because she loves cooking but because she loves people. THIS is servanthood… #9:38

Tyler is super crafty but doesn’t love being the center of attention. But today sat and taught some of the kids to make paracord bracelets and even stepped WAY out of his comfort zone and translated.  #9:38

Abigail sat one day with her head in her hands as she panicked that she was going to have to translate in church. The very next day LEAD worship. Check out her smile as she worshipped. #9:38

Chumpe has always loved translating because it meant he got to hang out with people. This week, he asked if he could translate in order to serve those that have helped him. #9:38
Kimberly shared her testimony willing, in front of the church today. The most amazing testimony of a love story between her and God in the midst of a tumulus life. #9:38
Ana stepped up and translated for Shannon. Y’all this is no easy feat because he talks fast and switches languages in the middle of his sermon but she did an amazing job. #9:38
Saul, stepped in to calm down a man who was upset in the middle of church. Got down on his level and spoke calmly then just sat beside him the whole service. AND preached grace and love to his friend who accepted Christ today… #9:38
Meet our new little sister in Christ… Angie. There are no words to describe the feeling of watching her grapple with forgiveness and grace and then whisper “I want that.” #9:38
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices. Psalm 16:9a

Please pray for our second team of Summer missionaries as they begin ministering to the teams and the people here. Read a little about them below and pray at 9:38 for each one by name.

It’s the highlight of my summer break!

I was going to a christian school and I knew about jesus but never had a really good relationship with him.I knew my friends had a relationship with him and i wanted to had one too.I went to church and got to know more about his love .I was helping in church in everything ,and I was really in to church. But when the problems started i ran away of God.I accepted Christ in my life in one of Mr.shannons mission trip .We were coming from san isidro and in the car i accepted christ as my savior .My life is not easy but with the help of God its easier. Lillie McDonald

My name is Lillie McDonald. I am 21 years old, and will be starting my junior year of college at Howard Payne University in the fall. I am double majoring in Practical Theology and Spanish. I want to go into ministry when I graduate, and this trip is going to also be an opportunity for me to see if I could possibly do tlthis long term. This will be my first time going to Honduras. I am very excited to go, but also nervous because it will be my first time traveling on my own, and living in a place like Honduras. I can’t wait to see how God is going to move through me during my time there.
