Books!!!!

Books!!!!

By Lauren Eggleton

Kristi had a dream for a library when she started working at Abundant Life. After years of rejection and barriers, a library was started. Because of the donations of churches and the hard work of Mrs. Kristi and many other teachers, we have a library! (And it is the best-filled library of all the ALCS schools!).
The teachers and students are both so blessed to have these novels at their disposal.
As a Language teacher and self-labeled librarian, I get to see just how loved the library is. I have about 10 student volunteers who spend their free periods working in the library. I watch second graders timidly knock on the door and ask, "I can... read.. the books?" I see students use the space to read, study, and feel peace they can't find it anywhere else in the school.
Teachers love the library as well. Elementary teachers take armfuls of books at a time to have in their classrooms for their students to read. The middle school reading teacher has made small reading groups so the students are reading all year long. I have used the class sets to make reading projects, I have had students read two personal books this year, and I have even borrowed a few books myself for my own reading pleasure 🙈 (Hey, I'm not the only teacher borrowing books).
We are grateful for the foundations of language and learning that books create, and that churches recognize this by providing new literature for us.
