Trinidad Melgar
Pastor Trini is one of our favorite pastors. We have been working alongside Trini for about four years. Trini is pastor of a church in the village of Santa Elena. There are no roads to Santa Elena, so Trini takes a path through the mountain twice a week. Each week, Trini also hosts a discipleship group at his home in San Pedrito where Shannon and Frank teach God’s Word.
When Trini is not traveling to Santa Elena or hosting a bible study, he is working to care for his family. Two years ago, First Baptist Church West began a partnership with Pastor Trini. It was on one of their trips that the idea was proposed to purchase a dairy cow for Trini to start a small business in order to provide for his family. A local dairy farmer in Gracias agreed to help train and find a cow for Trini. In August 2015, Trini received his cow. Since then, he has been working hard in raising the cow. His wife, Cleotilde, is also working hard in making cheese from the milk to sell in the village. Together, they have been doing a great job with this business opportunity.
Our relationship with Trini is a picture of our hopes for the people of Honduras. Trini works hard to share the Gospel and his life with the people of Santa Elena. He has been raising up leaders there so that in the future he can go into other villages and share the Gospel. We have enjoyed walking through life with Trini. It is our hope to help more Hondurans and create opportunities for them to have a better life and share the Gospel.
