Christ says that we are not fighting against flesh and blood but sometimes I wonder if that wouldn’t be easier. No, I am not downplaying war and all it’s pain. I just mean that wouldn’t it be nice if we could look our enemy in the face instead of knowing that he is lurking, planning and scheming in the shadows. He is our true adversary but he uses so many avenues to wear us down. And it seems that it is always when things are going well and His kingdom is growing that Satan steps up the attack. He is so good at attacking that when it comes from all sides, it’s hard to remember who the real enemy is. He attacks our reputation, our relationships, our confidence, our family, our calling and most importantly tries to steer us away from the One who can fight for us. I’m not just speaking in general terms. I’m living it. Our ministry is growing. People are coming to know Christ. They are growing in their relationship with Him. We are meeting needs and we are helping to build up the next generation of Hondurans to be educated and to love our God. But right now, in the midst of this growth, Satan is prowling around. He will not be successful though. I have a God who is mighty. I have a God who is my rock; my refuge; my strong tower. I wait and I pray. For in “a little while, the God of all grace, who has called me to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strength and establish me (1 Peter 5:10).” You and I are not alone in this battle. If you are fighting now then let’s pray for and encourage each other. This “little while” shall pass but in the meantime, take Refuge.
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:5-8

2 Corinthians 1:3-7
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.
