Hebrews 4 :16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace…”
Today I drew near to the throne with a little boy with a bowl cut curled up in my lap. He didn’t think twice about talking to “Papito Dios.” He didn’t dwell on his failures or make excuses for them. He wasn’t distracted by the 22 other kids in the room who were clearly not joining him at the throne. He just talked to his Father. Thanked him for his love. He asked for nothing but just talked to him.
I am always humbled when I get to kneel at the throne with children because they teach me so much. How often do I tune everything out and speak to my Father or do I always have one ear tuned into something else? How often do I curl up in the lap of my Father to have a conversation with him? Do I thank God for his love, asking nothing in return? Sadly, the answers to the questions are “not often” but I am thankful for the lessons learned by children and the model they set. I am thankful they have taught me to look forward to my time curled up with my Father, thanking him for his love.
