Paul
My name is Paul Chandler and I am from Mt. Pleasant, TX. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was six years old and have continued to grow in my faith. I was Homeschooled and graduated in 2016 and knew the Lord was leading me to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX.
In my freshman year, I received a call to ministry and switched my major over to Christian Education which I finished in May of 2020. I absolutely loved working with youth students and knew that youth ministry is something I needed to be involved in for the rest of my life. I then graduated with my Master’s degree in Theology in May of 2021, three weeks before marrying the love of my life Taylor Chandler. My first time interacting with 61 Isaiah was in May 2019, before I really knew Taylor, with a class at Howard Payne. It was a class called International Practicum and we actually got to come to Honduras and partner with 61 Isaiah for the final week of our class. At the time, I had no idea that God would call me to Honduras, let alone my future wife as well.
I will be serving as a pioneer missionary with 61 Isaiah with a focus on Village Ministry, Youth Ministry, and the bilingual school here in Gracias. The focus on spreading the Gospel is exciting to me and it is an honor to be able to participate in God’s mission like this.
Taylor
Hello everyone! My name is Taylor Chandler and I am a new team member serving on the 61 Isaiah Field Base Team. I was born and raised in Texas and grew up in the small town of May, Texas. It was there that I was challenged and grew in my faith. When I was seven years old I accepted Jesus as my Savior. At the time, I knew that I was a sinner and needed a Savior but I did not completely understand what it meant to be a follower of Jesus. When I was in the 7th grade my faith and personal relationship with Jesus started flourishing and became something that I sought after daily. In 2016 during a youth camp, I felt God calling me into ministry, but I did not know what that might look like. In 2018, I graduated from May High School and planned to go to Howard Payne University (HPU) in Brownwood, Texas to pursue ministry. However, God had different plans. Instead, I studied at Ranger Junior College in Ranger, Texas, and pursued an associate’s degree. During this season, I wrestled a lot with being called into ministry, but God used mentors and encouragers in my church and family to affirm that call in my life. This past May 2021 I graduated from HPU with a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education.
During school, I served as the student ministry intern and student ministry interim at May First Baptist Church. Working in ministry I was able to experience many ministry opportunities such as; missions, worship, and youth ministry. Each of these areas included hands-on and behind-the-scenes work, and God used those years to grow my understanding and experience of ministry. While serving with May FBC, in 2019 & 2020 I was able to visit Gracias and serve with 61 Isaiah during Spring Break mission trips. God used these short-term mission trips to prepare my heart for the calling to serve and live in Honduras now with my husband. Paul and I are continually amazed at God’s provision and timing. Being a part of the 61 Isaiah team is an act of God’s faithfulness.
While serving with 61 Isaiah Ministries I will be serving as a pioneer missionary serving in different areas of ministry in the administrative department, village ministry, and school ministry. The primary goal in serving with 61 Isaiah is finding out where God wants to use me to bring Him glory. Paul and I are truly excited to be a part of this ministry and home away from home.
