Please begin praying for Kylie as she gets ready to move to Honduras in August. We are looking forward to seeing how God uses her gifts and talents to enrich the 61 Isaiah Field Based Team and our ministry! Without further ado, Kylie will introduce herself to everyone.

Kylie Johnson:

My name is Kylie Johnson and I am from Abbott, Texas. It was there, in that tiny town, that I grew up with my beautiful family. My parents are Bryan and Lesley, and my two younger brothers are Kadyn and Karsyn. My brothers and I were raised in a Christ-centered household. I’m not a minister’s kid, but I like to joke and call myself a church’s kid because my family was there any time the church doors were open. Looking back, I am thankful my parents made sure I was connected to the local church. In many ways, the church I grew up in was like a second home to me; some of my earliest and fondest memories were made at Church on the Hill. It was there that I gave my life to Christ at the age of six and felt God calling me to missions at the age of eleven. I remember gladly accepting this call and sharing it with my youth pastor and family.

Embarking on a journey means that there will be highs and lows, and my ministry journey hasn’t been any different. After the initial excitement of God’s call wore off, and despite the encouragement, I began to doubt my call to missions. I wanted God to plainly lay out what it meant to be a missionary and what that would like for me and the rest of my life. However, God rarely just lays out all that he has for someone’s life right in front of them. Over the years, God has shown me that I’m not a puppet, and he isn’t pulling on the strings of my life. Instead, God has placed in my heart desires to love and serve. Not only has he given me these desires, but through the Holy Spirit, I have the wisdom to choose.

During my senior year at Howard Payne, I was seeking direction from God. A season in my life was coming to an end, and I was unsure of the next steps I should take. All I knew was that God placed a calling on my life and I wanted to serve. In the letter James, it talks about how believers should be hearers of the Word and doers of the Word. I took a leap of faith and reached out to 61 Isaiah Ministries. I am so excited that I get to walk with this ministry for the next year.
